Village of Hazelton Launches Walking Tour App to Reward Exploration

Today, the Village of Hazelton with support from the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine launched Hazelton Insider, a free walking tour mobile app that guides and rewards exploration of the Village of Hazelton and the surrounding area.
Complementing the printed Hazelton Insider Walking Guide of “Old Town” Hazelton and the “Hands of History” self-guided driving tour, the Hazelton Insider app allows users to collect points when they arrive at locations listed in the app. Those points can be redeemed for small rewards at the Hazelton’s Tourist Information Centre located in New Hazelton.
“With unparalleled natural surroundings, historic sites, Gitxsan culture and a welcoming community, the Village of Hazelton has always been a rewarding experience – for visitors and residents alike,” said Mayor Dennis Sterritt. “The Hazelton Insider app allows us a rich way to present and guide people through that experience.”
The app was developed using 468 Insider technology, with the support of Northern Development Initiative Trust’s Economic Development Capacity Building grant.
