In an effort to reduce costs to residents the Village is applying for over $600,000 in grants. These grants will help the Village complete a Housing Study in partnership with the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, purchase equipment for the Fire Department, Flood Mitigation Planning, FireSmart planning, Emergency Operation Centre equipment, and lagoon maintenance.
The Village will be: updating municipal software for Council meetings, fire hydrant replacements, new public works equipment, Bastion Park master planning, Omineca stairs refurbishment, new benches for the downtown core and sewer lift station upgrades.
The Village will also continue to support the Upper Skeena Recreation Centre and is planning an expansion to the Village Cemetery located in Two Mile.
